The Good Food Box is a Huron county program that encourages people to eat locally grown produce. The community program relies heavily on volunteers to pass along savings of up to 40% off regular pricing on boxes of mostly locally-grown produce and a variety of staples.

Who is eligible?
Anyone can use the program. The Good Food Box is not a food bank or charity program.

How does it work?
Payment of $15 cash is due on the first Friday of each month. The pickup date is the third Thursday of each month. Come in to Hensall Major Appliance to order/pay/pickup your Good Food Box. A newsletter comes with each Good Food Box giving info on local foods, recipes and more.

How can the costs be so reasonable?
Bulk buying savings are passed directly along to the customer. Many volunteers are involved; they help keep admin costs low.

Are there any extra costs involved?
None. You only pay $15 for the Good Food Box. There are no membership fees, no commitments.

What are folks who buy the box saying?
Feedback is that they really love the program. Eating fresh locally grown produce and a variety of staples at such a great value is great. They report that adults and kids alike are eating more vegetables and fruits because of the program. Users suggest trying out the Good Food Box program for a few months at different times of the year to sample the variety of the boxes.
