Why do you need a vent in your kitchen?

For many reasons, including your health, safety and prolonging the life of your cabinets and appliances by removing rising cooking contaminants including grease, smoke, steam, heat and odours. A range hood also prevents flare-ups that compromise your safety.

Why should you duct to the outside rather than to the attic?

Air quality in the kitchen and the rest of the house is improved by venting to the outside. If you vent into your attic or crawl space, the expelled humidity and grease will collect there. Also, duct with the least number of turns for maximum efficiency.

How do you select the right size and capacity of range hood?

Select the power you need and ideally choose a hood that provides varying speeds of air movement. Appliance manufacturers often have vent hoods that are right for each range size.
